POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) - Eastern Idaho fire officials have asked the Idaho State Fire Marshal and Bannock County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a fire that destroyed a large house south of Pocatello.

Pocatello Valley Fire Department officials tell the Idaho State Journal (https://bit.ly/2x4aDrK) that the multistory house was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived Thursday night within 10 minutes of receiving the call.

Officials say no one was home, but a neighbor suffered smoke inhalation, possibly trying to make sure the house was unoccupied.

Officials say several cats lived in the house and are believed to have died in the fire.

Fire officials at the scene say they have no idea how the fire started and didn’t have a damage estimate.
