LAURENS, S.C. (AP) - A man has been sentenced to the maximum of 10 years in prison for calling in a bomb threat to the South Carolina women’s shelter where his former girlfriend was staying.
Eighth Circuit Solicitor David Stumbo said 44-year-old Rahim Abdullah had also called Meg’s House Shelter for Abused Women in Laurens earlier and claimed to be a law enforcement officer.
Stumbo said in a statement that Abdullah pleaded guilty Thursday to conveying a bomb threat and stalking before receiving the maximum sentence.
Meg’s House Executive Director Alice Hodges says she hopes Abdullah’s sentence teaches him a lesson and serves to keep others from threatening women’s shelters.
