OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says two state troopers shot and killed a man suspected in a separate homicide.

According to the Oklahoman , sheriff’s deputies in Choctaw County found a 51-year-old man shot dead outside a home in Boswell, a town about 160 miles (258 kilometers) southeast of Oklahoma City. The newspaper reports the deputies suspected the resident of the home had taken a woman hostage and fled.

State troopers found the man, identified as Mack Brinkley, in a nearby county. Authorities say the troopers and Brinkley exchanged gunfire, and Brinkley was killed in the shootout.

The shootings of both Brinkley and the 51-year-old remain under investigation.
