NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Police in Delaware are investigating the death of a woman who was found with “significant injuries” at a home in Newark.

The Newark Police Department said in a statement Saturday that the investigation began as a welfare check. Officer responded to a home late Friday night, entered and found the body of an adult woman.

The statement says the woman had suffered “significant injuries” but didn’t give further details. She was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy will be conducted.



The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of her relatives, and police say additional information will be released later.

Police say they don’t believe there’s any threat to the general public.
