OXON HILL, Md. (AP) - Police and school officials in a Maryland suburb of Washington say a high school was put on lockdown after a student was found with a handgun.

John White is spokesman for the Prince George’s County Public Schools. He tells The Washington Post that a teacher at Potomac High School in Oxon Hill, Maryland, saw two boys exchanging money Tuesday morning.

White says one of the youths, who no longer attends the school, wasn’t wearing a uniform.

The teacher told the school resource officer, who searched the 10th-grader and found a handgun. He’s been taken into custody.

County police spokesman says officers are looking for the former student.

No one was hurt. The lockdown was lifted just before noon.
