CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Dogs, cats and other pets will be welcomed for a special blessing on the New Hampshire Statehouse lawn.

St. Paul’s Church is offering its annual Blessing of the Animals during its church services on Saturday and Sunday. It also will welcome members of the public to a separate blessing event on the Statehouse lawn from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

Episcopal churches often offer such blessings around Oct. 4, the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, who is associated with animals and nature.
