ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say two pedestrians have died after being hit by a vehicle in the northern Illinois city of Rockford.

The Winnebago County coroner says a 26-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene on the city’s south side where a divided four-lane road goes through an industrial area. The Rockford Register Star reports a 24-year-old man died after being taken to a hospital.

Police were investigating the circumstances of the deaths. The names of the victims weren’t immediately released.
