This young Washington Capitals fan was hoping to receive a gift before the Capitals’ Game 2 at Capital One Arena Sunday night, and she had to be patient.

Brett Connolly, the Capitals forward, noticed her and tossed a puck over the glass during pregame warmups, but the boy next to her — presumably one of her brothers — grabbed it instead.

Connolly didn’t leave the area until he was sure the girl received the puck she was looking for, even though it took three tries and some sad faces:

The announcer points out that the girl’s father in the John Carlson jersey behind her “orchestrated” it. After all, he catches the second puck and hands it to the other brother instead of the girl, testing her patience.

It may have been the Capitals’ last home game of the season, if they end up getting swept by Columbus, but if that’s the case, this moment was still a nice way to wrap up the season for these young fans.
