TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) - Authorities say an 81-year-old Arkansas man is dead after a vehicle crash occurred near the end of a funeral procession.
Texarkana, Arkansas, Police Department spokeswoman Kristi Bennett says Royce Watson died at a local hospital from injuries stemming from the crash.
The Texarkana Gazette reports that Watson had been driving east on a road near the end of the procession Monday morning when police say he collided with a utility truck traveling south on an intersecting road.
Bennett says Watson’s wife was a passenger in the car and had also been taken to the hospital. Police don’t believe her injuries are life-threatening.
An investigation of the crash is ongoing.
