Maryland lacrosse star Connor Kelly was drafted second overall by the Atlanta Blaze in the 2018 Major League Lacrosse Draft on Wednesday night.

Kelly was one of five Terrapins to be selected into the nine-team professional lacrosse league.

Kelly, a USILA First Team All-American in 2017, has scored 32 goals and added 28 assists in Maryland’s first 11 games this season. He will be a top candidate for the Tewaaraton Award, college lacrosse’s equivalent of the Heisman Trophy.

Maryland midfielder Tim Rotanz was taken in the second round, 12th overall, by the Charlotte Hounds. Defenseman Bryce Young went a few picks later at No. 15 to the Ohio Machine.

In the sixth round, the Hounds added Terrpain midfielder Adam DiMillo at No. 48 overall, and at No. 50, the New York Lizards selected goalie Dan Morris.
