BEVERLY, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts man has been charged in connection with a car crash more than a year ago that killed one person and injured another.
The Salem News reports that a clerk magistrate last week found probable cause to charge 48-year-old Dean Santamaria-Capetanelis with motor vehicle homicide and other offenses in the March 2017 crash in Beverly.
Police say Santamaria-Capetanelis crashed his Porsche Cayenne into a pickup truck, killing the truck’s driver, 28-year-old Jeffrey DeLorenzo. A 60-year-old man was hospitalized with neck and arm pain after he failed to avoid the collision.
Santamaria-Capetanelis told police he was heading to the hospital after cutting his finger at home.
His lawyer says his client will plead not guilty to all charges.
Santamaria-Capetanelis’ arraignment is scheduled for May 16.
