ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The Latest on New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s criticism of federal immigration officials for a recent raid on an upstate dairy farm (all times local):

5:30 p.m.

A spokesman for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is firing back at New York’s governor for criticizing the tactics of immigration agents following a raid on an upstate dairy farm.

DHS spokesman Tyler Houlton says a cease and desist letter sent to immigration officials by Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo (KWOH’-moh) on Wednesday is a “slap in the face” to Immigration and Customs Enforcement employees.

Farmer John Collins says the armed agents didn’t produce a warrant or identify themselves, and handcuffed him when he tried to videotape the incident. He says they also destroyed his cellphone.

Cuomo has threatened to sue the federal government and says the officers’ conduct violated the law.

ICE has said it did have a warrant.

New York’s governor is threatening to sue federal immigration officials following a raid on an upstate dairy farm that he says was illegal.

Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued a cease and desist letter to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency Wednesday.

The unusual move came after armed ICE agents arrested a worker at a farm in Rome last week. Farmer John Collins says the agents did not produce a warrant or identify themselves and handcuffed him when he tried to videotape the incident. He says they also destroyed his cellphone.

Cuomo says the officers’ conduct violated the Constitution and basic provisions of state and federal law.

ICE has said that it did have a warrant. A spokesman did not immediately respond to questions about the officers’ conduct Wednesday.
