ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont man has pleaded no contest to charges in the kidnapping and killing of a 78-year-old woman in 2010.

Thirty-seven-year-old Keith Baird reached an agreement with prosecutors to plead no contest to burglary and kidnapping on Friday in exchange for a murder charge being dismissed. The plea deal calls for a minimum prison sentence of 15 years.

Prosecutors say Baird and two others entered Pat O’Hagan’s home with the intent of robbing her, but instead ended up kidnapping and killing the woman.

O’Hagan’s sons were in court Friday in St. Johnsbury. Shawn O’Hagan tells WCAX-TV that he feels like “we let my mother down” by letting not having a formal trial. The brothers said they’ll be back in court to see Baird sentenced next month.
