BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) - A Mississippi man who pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a 5-year-old girl has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.

News outlets report 27-year-old Curtis Wathen was arrested after the child’s mother found a pornographic video of her daughter on Wathen’s cellphone in June 2017.

An investigation that included interviews with the child and a medical examination concluded that the child had been abused for at least a month. Prosecutor Chris Daniel says Wather confessed, adding the defendant recorded two incidents of abuse.
