CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Reserve guard Scott Spencer is leaving Clemson’s basketball team.

Tigers coach Brad Brownell announced Spencer’s decision to transfer on Thursday.

Spencer is a 6-foot-6 sophomore from Suffolk, Virginia, who appeared in just 25 games in his Clemson career. He averaged 1.3 points and less than a rebound a game for the Tigers.

Brownell thanked Spencer for his commitment and dedication the past two seasons.

Spencer becomes the latest backcourt player to look elsewhere after the Tigers reached the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16 last month. Starting guards Marcquise Reed and Shelton Mitchell both have entered the NBA draft, although neither plans to hire an agent meaning they could return to the Tigers.
