KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) - A show dog that has been running loose on the University of Rhode Island’s campus in Kingston has been corralled with the help of a volunteer dog rescuer.

The white borzoi named Pagan escaped a dog show Sunday after jumping out of a van window. The Providence Journal reports Pagan was seen multiple times around Kingston, but would not approach strangers.

Denise Schumitz, who took charge of the search, said Wednesday she set up cameras and food for Pagan. The dog was found later that day by volunteer Mike Laurent, a Warwick man who has adopted five greyhounds.

Schumitz says Pagan tried to climb on Laurent’s lap during a drive to a veterinarian’s office. The dog will be returned to his owner soon.
