MACON, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say two brothers are dead after they were struck by a freight train in central Georgia.

The Telegraph of Macon reports the men died Saturday afternoon. Bibb County sheriff’s Sgt. Linda Howard said they were apparently walking along the tracks when a Norfolk Southern train hit them.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones identified the men as 27-year-old Cory Dale Cranmore and his brother, 20-year-old Brian Darryl Cranmore. Both lived in Macon.

A car belonging to one of the brothers was found near the scene. Police are investigating the fatal collision.

Jones said authorities don’t know why the men were walking along the tracks.
