HARPSWELL, Maine (AP) - Police in Maine say the driver who crashed into an empty house and was stuck inside his car for nearly 10 hours will now face charges.

Harpswell police said Thursday 35-year-old Kevin O’Connor will be charged with failure to provide insurance and driving with a suspended license. The Portland Press Herald reports O’Connor declined an interview request Thursday, and is currently at Maine Medical Center in fair condition.

Police say O’Connor lost control of his vehicle early Wednesday and crashed into a nearby house. He suffered multiple broken bones and was unable to get out of the car.

O’Connor’s cellphone battery was dead, so he was unable to get help until late Wednesday morning when a passer-by discovered the crash.
