ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - An Albuquerque man is facing charges after allegedly assaulting firefighters as they were trying to save people from a burning home.

KOB-TV reports that Bernalillo County firefighters were at the scene of a house fire on Thursday evening in southwest Albuquerque when they encountered Ruben Cuellar.

According to firefighters, the 31-year-old refused to listen when told to stand back from the burning property.

A criminal complaint says Cuellar was “aggressive” and punched one firefighter in the nose. He also pushed another in the chest and caused a third to dislocate his shoulder.

Cuellar was booked on one count of aggravated battery.
