Reps. Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows said Friday they plan on launching an investigation into the Obama administration to find out what they knew about the dossier.

“We’ve got to find out who in the government knew what, when,” Mr. Meadows, North Carolina Republican, said on Fox News.

“The Clinton campaign paid for the dossier. The Democrat National Committee paid for the dossier. And if a Russian oligarch was paying the author of the dossier at the same time, that is unbelievable,” Mr. Jordan, Ohio Republican, said on Fox News.

The unverified dossier was reportedly used to justify a surveillance warrant for Carter Page, a former Trump campaign aide, during the 2016 election, according to a memo from Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee. They say FBI agents did not inform the FISA court — which distributes these warrants — that the dossier was politically funded.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, who authored the Republican memo, wrote a letter to current and former intelligence and law enforcement officials asking what they knew and when, according to Fox News. He said the committee is just in the beginning stages of investigating the situation.
