PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Authorities say a pedestrian was hit by a car in Providence, sending her to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police say the victim was struck by the car on Friday evening.

Providence Police Lt. Ernest Forlini tells WPRI-TV that the pedestrian was not walking in the crosswalk when she was hit.

Forlini says poor visibility due to the weather may have been a factor. Forlini says the driver will not be cited.

The pedestrian’s condition Saturday was not immediately clear. Her identity has not been released.
