STAUNTON, Va. (AP) - Police in Staunton are asking the public to help with any information that might help investigators find a Virginia man with a warrant for second-degree murder.

WDBJ-TV reports that the city’s police department is seeking 22-year-old Orion Jeffrey Painter. Police say he’s considered armed and dangerous and could be driving a silver Jeep Cherokee.

Painter is facing charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

He’s wanted in connection in the death of Melanie Wade, a 37-year-old resident of Staunton.

She died at a Charlottesville hospital after suffering a gunshot wound.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call Staunton police at 540-332-3842 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-322-2017.
