CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine (AP) - Police say a teenager in Maine has been charged with terrorizing over a message on social media that led to Cape Elizabeth schools being closed for the day.
Police say the 17-year-old high school student was arrested on Monday in South Portland after posting a troubling message online. The boy’s name is not being released.
Police say several students notified the principal at Cape Elizabeth High School about the messages.
Cape Elizabeth officials said schools were closed “out of an abundance of caution.” Interim Superintendent Howard Colter said there was a “safety issue,” but declined to provide specifics.
