GETTYSBURG, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole in the beating death of his roommate last year.

PennLive.com reports that 46-year-old Walter Smith Jr. of Hanover was sentenced Monday in Adams County Court on December convictions of first- and third-degree murder.

Prosecutors said he attacked 44-year-old Mitchell Jones with a ceramic water pitcher in their Conewago Township apartment in June 2016 after the two were drinking and smoking crack together.
