OPINION:
Suddenly, everything in Washington is the opposite of what it is supposed to be. Instead of Donald Trump colluding with the Russians to defeat Hillary Clinton, it was Hillary Clinton who colluded with the Russians against Mr. Trump. She paid over $10 million to Fusion GPS, who hired a former British intelligence officer with ties to Russian intelligence, which provided fabrications about Mr. Trump that ended up in the supposed Trump “dossier.”
That Russian intelligence disinformation was used by Obama intelligence officials to begin a U.S. espionage campaign to spy on the Trump campaign, the opposition party’s candidate, violating the Constitution and the fundamental norms of democracy. That outright fascism makes the third rate burglary in Watergate look like child’s play. The Russian intelligence dossier was misused by U.S. law enforcement to obtain a warrant from a FISA court for further espionage against Hillary’s opponents in the Trump campaign and administration.
Instead of Mr. Trump committing the crime of obstruction of justice, and about to be bounced out of office through impeachment, it is the FBI and Mr. Obama’s Justice Dept. that committed obstruction of justice, with former senior officials to be bounced into jail. Those officials conducted a sham investigation of Hillary Clinton’s revelations of classified U.S. intelligence, which involved overlooking and effectively hiding the evidence of that Hillary crime.
Instead of Mr. Trump committing crimes that warrant impeachment, and going to jail, it is Hillary Clinton who committed crimes, and is going to jail. Hillary’s mishandling of emails with top secret U.S. intelligence and classified information ended up revealing America’s top secrets and other classified information to foreign spies. Hillary’s approval of the sale of 20 percent of America’s uranium supply to Vladimir Putin’s cronies, as Mr. Obama’s sitting Secretary of State, in return for hundreds of millions in payoffs to the Clinton Foundation, in broad daylight, was the biggest and most brazen corruption scandal in American history.
And instead of Mr. Trump leading a fascist plot to take over America, it was Hillary Clinton and Obama cronies in America’s intelligence agencies who tried to carry out what can only be called a fascist coup to overturn the 2016 elections, and remove the duly elected president of the United States, through Mr. Obama’s espionage campaign against the opposition party’s presidential candidate. Another chapter in Mr. Obama’s strategy to fundamentally transform America into a third world country, which he and the Democrats could more easily control.
But there is a way to set these travesties straight, and now make sure that justice at long last is done. That would involve replacing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein with former U.S. Attorney and New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Mr. Giuliani is a seasoned, incorruptible, articulate, no-nonsense prosecutor who knows how to marshal evidence, and prosecute those who now must be prosecuted. He knows the law, and the legal duties of federal law enforcement officials. With Mr. Giuliani as deputy attorney general, we would not need another independent counsel. He would effectively be a Super Special Counsel, who would know how to gather the forces of the Justice Dept. itself for proper, legal prosecutions, which as in Watergate may involve the prosecution of a former attorney general herself.
Mr. Giuliani would also be an indispensable force who would know how to help Attorney General Jeff Sessions take control of the Justice Department, and lead it back to respectability. He can be counted on to enforce the law effectively, without fear or favor, or any further partisan misconduct.
He would know that his duty would be not to interfere with Robert Mueller’s investigation, of whatever Mr. Mueller is supposed to be investigating now. But Mr. Mueller would also know that his investigation now must be focused, and not free to roam to any issue that may yield some prosecution of someone in the Trump campaign or administration for something someday.
Mr. Mueller’s investigation itself is compromised because there was no named legal violation for him to investigate and prosecute in the first place, which could now limit his adventures. That is supposed to be required as a matter of law to name an independent counsel in the first place. But the public must be satisfied that justice is now being done for everybody. There can be no further even appearance of impropriety, especially in this hothouse political environment.
Mr. Giuliani would know and understand that he still must be formally hands-off with Mr. Mueller. But just a conversation with another respected, knowledgeable professional could be enough for Mr. Mueller to play straight himself.
Mr. Giuliani is the man that America needs right now to help lead the way out of the morass we are in. He can be expected to rise to this historic patriotic duty, just like Washington and Lincoln did.
