The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) executive order isn’t good for working-class America. It’s a matter of simple supply and demand: More people available for jobs means lower wages and benefits for all. So why are politicians from both parties trying to jam it down our throats?
Actually, that’s simple, too. For the Democrats, flooding America with unskilled, uneducated people means they finally get their socialist utopia. They create a permanent lower-class majority and a permanent ruling class: the Democratic Party. America becomes Venezuela.
For the Republicans, DACA means a paying down of the debt (campaign donations) they owe to big business by creating a permanent low-wage pool for that group. And there is the guarantee of future donations from big business, along with the prospect for future income via well-paid jobs and lobbying positions when they are done with politics.
For President Trump, it’s his legacy and the 2020 election. DACA is a trap that both parties have set for the president. If Mr. Trump signs off on DACA, they know his base will desert him. His first term as president will effectively be over and there will be zero chance of reelection. America first, Mr. President, or you are last.
