LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Students, parents, teachers and elected officials are rallying at the Nebraska Capitol to recognize school choices.

Gov. Pete Ricketts and Lt. Mike Gov. Mike Foley addressed the group Thursday during National School Choice Week.

National School Choice Week is a public awareness effort designed to promote options such as public charter schools, private schools, homeschooling and online learning.

Supporters of public schools held a separate recognition day Thursday at the Capitol. Several senators wore shirts supporting Nebraska’s public schools.
