NBC removed a tweet they posted Sunday night about Oprah Winfrey as president, clarifying that it was not meant as a political statement.

“The tweet was sent out by a third party agency for NBC Entertainment in real time during the live broadcast. It is in reference to a joke made during the opening monologue and not meant to be a political statement. We have since removed the tweet,” NBC posted on Monday.

The network received much criticism after the tweet was posted, arguing it showed bias and was journalistically unethical.

“Nothing but respect for OUR future president. #GoldenGlobes,” read the tweet that has since been deleted.

NBC hosted the Golden Globe award show and tweeted out several posts in reference to the program throughout its live broadcast.
