ANALYSIS/OPINION:

When someone with a net worth of $60 million talks about being a socialist, our first question should be, “When will she give away the all that money?” (“Cynthia Nixon: I’m a democratic socialist,” Web, July 11)

People like actress and New York gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and other “socialist democrats” are exactly what cronyism is all about. They, the very wealthy, keep all the money and get all the perks, then perhaps assign a few bucks a month to all the others.

Ms. Nixon has no idea what socialism really is. In a socialist country, there is no incentive to do anything. Socialism can exist only in the Catholic Church, in which the clergy takes a vow of poverty, or on a small farm, where the extended family shares all of the wealth.

Ms. Nixon is a phony and so is everyone else who talks about socialism in America. I live below the poverty line, and I still do not want to tax the rich. That’s because I own 1,500 copyrights and should be rich myself.
