PICO RIVERA, Calif. (AP) - Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies have shot and killed a drunken driving suspect they say was armed with a gun.

KABC-TV reports authorities began chasing the man’s car at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday near his Pico Rivera home.

Authorities say the car hit a power pole and a parked car before the driver got out with a gun.

Authorities say a deputy shot at the man and he ran away but he was later cornered and shot by deputies. He died at the scene at about 2 a.m.

His name and other details haven’t been released.

A gun was found at the scene but authorities tell the Los Angeles Times that it doesn’t appear the gunman fired it at deputies.
