MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (AP) - One of Connecticut’s top-ranking prosecutors has been appointed as the chief law enforcement official in the Middletown area.
The state Criminal Justice Commission announced Wednesday that it picked Michael Gailor for an eight-year term as Middletown state’s attorney, the top prosecutor in a 15-town region that runs from Cromwell to Middletown to Old Saybrook. Gailor has been an executive assistant state’s attorney in the chief state’s attorney’s office since 2005.
He succeeds Peter McShane, who became a state judge earlier this year after serving more than six years as Middletown state’s attorney.
Gailor has been a state prosecutor since 1993. He has an economics degree from Cornell University and a law degree from the University of Connecticut. He also has taught at the UConn Law School and other schools.
