BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Southwest Vermont Health Care has received its largest-ever donation from a plastics molding company.

The $5 million donation from Mack Molding will go toward the expansion and renovation of the hospital’s emergency department. The Bennington Banner reports an application for the project will hopefully be submitted to the Green Mountain Care Board by October, and could begin as soon as next summer.

SVHC President Tom Dee says the emergency room has always been at the top of the list for infrastructure upgrades at the hospital. Dee says the hospital’s foundation generally raises between $2 million and $4 million each year.
