NASHUA, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire’s attorney general says a 29-year-old man has been shot by a police officer and has been hospitalized.

Attorney General Gordon MacDonald says Nashua Police Department officers responded to a residence for a welfare check on Tuesday night. He said an officer discharged his gun and shot and wounded Justin Contreras. Two other officers were present.

No one else was hurt. Contreras’ condition wasn’t immediately known. The officers’ names weren’t released.
