SNEAD, Ala. (AP) - Alabama authorities are investigating the death of a police dog who died at a veterinarian’s office.

Snead Mayor La’Shone Price tells WBRC-TV that 3-year-old K-9 Officer Didi died Monday while boarded at the veterinarian’s office. Price says it’s believed Didi died from heat stroke.

A funeral service was held Friday afternoon for Didi.

Price says evidence of neglect could mean criminal charges will be filed. The city of Snead and the Snead Police Department are investigating.
