SANFORD, N.C. (AP) - A Raleigh man is charged with murder after a shooting spree at a Sanford dance studio that also left six other people wounded last weekend.

Media reports cite Sanford officials as saying Saturday they’ve charged 20-year-old Dominique Williams with one count of first-degree murder.

The shooting exploded after a birthday party held at the Sanford Latin Dance Studio early on June 24. Authorities say partygoers were reaching the street when a fight and then the gunfire broke out.

A gunshot wound to the chest killed 27-year-old Travis Mclean of Sanford. Family members said Mclean was shot eight times.

Two women and four other men suffered gunshot wounds to their arms or legs. One man was shot in both legs.

Williams is scheduled in Lee County District Court on Monday.
