ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Family members say a man hospitalized after struggling with police has died in Southern California.

Police in Anaheim said Christopher Eisinger ran from officers investigating a possible vehicle break-in March 2. Officials said after a chase Eisinger struggled with officers, tried to grab one of their stun guns, and then went into cardiac arrest.

Eric Dubin, an attorney representing Eisinger’s family, says the 35-year-old was taken off life support Saturday and died a short time later.

Police said Eisinger, described as a transient, appeared to be under the influence of drugs. Officers said they found drug paraphernalia on him.

KABC-TV reports Acting Police Chief Julian Harvey has reviewed body-camera footage of the arrest and said it appears his officers followed protocol. The incident is under investigation.
