The son of deceased MLB pitcher Roy Halladay pitched against one of his father’s old teams in a spring training matchup Saturday and pitched a perfect inning.

Braden Halladay, 17, went to the mound for the Canadian Junior National Team in the eighth inning of an exhibition game against the Toronto Blue Jays. He pitched one inning and gave up no hits or runs.

“It’s just surreal,” Halladay said. “Opportunities like this just come once in a lifetime. I’m sure (Roy) is up smiling down at me.”

Roy Halladay pitched for Toronto from 1998 to 2009 and also played for the Philadelphia Phillies. Halladay died last November after crashing his small plane in Florida, and was later found to have had amphetamine, morphine and an insomnia drug in his system at the time of the accident.
