Baez pleaded guilty Monday, only a few days before his murder trial was set to begin.
Boston Police detectives have determined Roe and Baez were together on July 3. Prosecutors argue that the two were arguing when Baez hit Roe’s head repeatedly and fatally.
Baez was seen on security footage several days later using Roe’s bank card.
Baez’s attorney Elda James declined to comment on the case and his sentencing.
