BOSTON (AP) - Authorities say a man stole multiple items from an unconscious man lying on a Boston subway platform and left him to die.

Police arrested 30-year-old Anthony Stimson Wednesday after reviewing surveillance video of the station.

Prosecutors say the video captured 52-year-old Willie Williams arriving at the station early Wednesday morning and going into medical distress. They say Stimson arrived a few minutes later and went through Williams‘ bag and pockets.

Police say Stimson made no effort to help Williams. First responders attempted to revive Williams, but he was pronounced dead at 5:13 a.m.

Stimson has pleaded not guilty to larceny and drug possession. The man’s attorney says his client has a “substance abuse problem,” and Williams‘ death was a “sad circumstance.”
