MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) - A 47-year-old Mitchell man faces up to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to raping a teenage girl.
The Daily Republic reports that Steven Nichols pleaded guilty to fourth-degree rape in the January incident at a residence. Prosecutors in exchange for the plea dropped a first-degree rape charge.
That means Nichols will face up to 15 years in prison rather than up to 50 years. He’s to be sentenced in May.
