Sen. Jeff Flake’s visit to New Hampshire next week is stoking speculation over whether the Arizona Republican is flirting with launching a primary challenge against President Trump.

Mr. Flake, who is not running for re-election to the Senate, is set to appear on March 16 at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics for a “Politics & Eggs” event, which has become a popular stop for potential presidential contenders.

He has been a top Trump critic on the GOP side of the aisle.

Republicans and political observers say there is a path for a primary challenge against Mr. Trump in New Hampshire in part because of the open primary system that allows independents to cast their votes in the GOP primary contest.

New Hampshire traditionally plays host to the first-in-the-nation primary.
