WENDELL, Idaho (AP) - A woman died after she was struck by a semi on Interstate 84 near Wendell, Idaho.

KTVB-TV reports the collision happened at 1:48 a.m. Thursday.

Idaho State Police say 57-year-old Cynthia J. Mead of Idaho Falls was walking east in the right lane when she was hit.

The driver of the semi, 60-year-old Robert Pierce of Reno, Nevada, could not see Mead on the highway because of a curve on the road.

He was unable to stop in time, and crashed into her. Mead died from her injuries at the scene.

It’s unclear why Mead was walking on the roadway.
