PURVIS, Miss. (AP) - Bond has been denied for a Columbia, Mississippi man accused of killing his girlfriend in Lamar County.
Sheriff Danny Rigel tells WDAM-TV that 46-year-old Ace Joe Mallard was brought back to Mississippi from Florida late Tuesday. A judge denied bond on the murder charge Wednesday morning.
Mallard is charged in the slaying of his girlfriend, 37-year-old Tracy Brown. Rigel says Brown was found shot to death in a home in the county about 8 a.m. Saturday. Mallard was arrested by Florida Highway Patrol later that day on Interstate 10 in Walton County.
Mallard is being held at the Lamar County Jail. Jail records do not indicate whether he’s represented by an attorney.
