ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) - A man has been taken to a hospital after a blazing piece of debris from a high-rise fire hit him in the head.

News outlets say a fire was reported at a 14-story apartment in Alexandria around 2 a.m. Thursday. The fire started on the ninth floor before spreading to the 10th floor. Falling debris then started another fire on the first floor. WJLA-TV reports that’s when the man was hit.

Three people, including the man, were injured and more were evacuated. WTTG-TV reports the two firefighters and man hurt in the fire have non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
