STOUGHTON, Mass. (AP) - Two people have died after their vehicle slammed into a tree in Stoughton, Massachusetts.

Investigators say the crash happened Tuesday around 5 p.m. Neighbor Paul Brizard tells WCVB-TV he ran out the scene to try to pull the victims from the mangled wreckage, but they were already dead.

Stoughton Police Chief Donna McNamara called it “a serious tragedy and a serious crash.”

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Authorities have not released the names of the people killed.
