BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - Elijah Davis scored 17 points, AJ Sumbry added 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and Wagner rallied in the second half and held off Fairfield 79-73 on Saturday.

Romone Saunders scored 16 points with 12 boards for the Seahawks (2-2), who trailed 43-41 at halftime.

Fairfield led by as many as five points early in the second half, but Wagner stayed close and Davis scored a go-ahead jumper in the paint to spark a 13-4 Seahawks run and a 56-47 lead at the midway mark. Fairfield rallied from 14 points down and closed to 74-70 on Neftali Alvarez’s layup with 17 seconds left, but Wagner made five free throws from there to seal it.

Wagner shot 48 percent to Fairfield’s 44 percent and outscored the Stags 50-30 in the paint.

Landon Taliaferro scored 27 points with six 3-pointers and Alvarez added 15 for Fairfield (1-3).
