SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - An upstate New York police officer who was arrested twice in one day last month has been suspended.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports 34-year-old Ahmad Mims, of North Syracuse, was arrested on Sept. 15 and charged with assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. Mims was charged by state police in the Syracuse area and later charged by troopers in Lake George in the Adirondacks.

Police say the Syracuse officer was involved in two domestic incidents last summer with a woman he knew.

The Syracuse Police Department suspended Mims two days after he was charged. He’s on paid administrative leave pending the results of the cases.

A hearing is scheduled on Dec. 13. It couldn’t immediately be determined if Mims has a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
