Redskins cornerback Josh Norman was briefly benched in Monday’s game in New Orleans for wearing his headphones at halftime, according to multiple reports.
Per the NFL Network, Jay Gruden “yanked” Norman’s headphones off when the coach was trying to address the team, leading the cornerback to get upset and walk away. As Norman turned his back, Gruden threatened to bench him for the start of the second half if he didn’t stop — and Norman kept walking.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the two met later over the incident and are “at peace with it.” The Redskins face the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
