The Washington Capitals spent a day off in Canada putting away their hockey sticks and engaging in the perfectly safe sport of ax throwing.

Videos on social media, some filmed by Tom Wilson, showed members of the Capitals taking part of the sport, which is growing in popularity in Canada as well as the U.S. The participants all wore plaid flannel shirts and ballcaps.

The Capitals took the day off for team-bonding after beating the Vancouver Canucks 5-2 Monday night. Their next game is at the Edmonton Oilers, and they’ll finish the Canada trip with games at Calgary and Montreal before returning to the District.
