STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut woman running for the state House of Representatives says she was injured in a hit-and-run and will be reducing her time on the campaign trail to heal.
Caitlin Clarkson Pereira says she was driving in downtown Stamford Tuesday afternoon when her car was hit from behind by another vehicle. The Connecticut Post reports she called the police and was taken from the scene by an ambulance.
The 31-year-old woman says she has muscular-skeletal pain from the crash, and was ordered to rest. The first-time candidate, a Fairfield Democrat, says she is not giving up her campaign against Republican state Rep. Brenda Kupchick.
Stamford police say the crash is under investigation.
Clarkson Pereira says she still planned to attend a debate in Fairfield Wednesday.
